Priner makes a grinding noise when I turn it on and then automatically shuts down

Officejet 4630

I have an HP Officejet 4630. I have gone through several troubleshooting steps and still have not been able to solve the issue. When I turn on the printer it makes a grinding noise, and then automatically shuts down. The printer cartridges are locked to the right of the printer and there does not appear to be anything jammed.

Hi @dpaytas

Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you.

Kindly make sure you have tried all the steps mentioned in this document to resolve this issue.

Reset the printer

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Wait at least 60 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  4. Turn ON the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
  5. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Note: HP recommends connecting the printer directly to a wall outlet rather than a surge protector or a power strip.

If the issue persists, I'm afraid this is a hardware issue with the printer. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
