I'm currently using an HP Officejet 8710, but I have experienced this problem on every HP printer I've ever used.

I've seen this topic come up about a million times, it isn't hard to do a search and find a flood of solutions.  When I go to print, more often than not I will get the error message saying "Printer Offline".  The printer is NOT offline, I'm connected to the same network, it says it's active, no TCP/IP ports have been changed, no cables have been damaged or broken, and no drivers have needed to be re-installed.  I can even scan documents to the PC, so apparently it's not that offline, just offline enough that it can't print.  In my case this can almost always be resolved by restarting the PC.  This is not a "my PC" problem, because other people in the office have the same issue, and everybody has a different computer.  The only consistent factor here is HP.

My question is, what is being done to resolve this issue?  If you do a simple search, you can find posts dating back the better part of a decade describing the issue, with the typical gamut of troubleshooting solutions.  I have had this issue for years, using different computers, with every single HP printer I have ever tried to use.  Why does this problem persist?  Why hasn't it been resolved?  There needs to be a permanent solution that doesn't require us to restart the PC every time we need to print.  I just want the printer to work.
