Slate 17 l000na
Android 4.4 KitKat

Purchased HP Slate 17 last week.  Nice piece of kit but won't run Netflix or Horizon go by Virgin Media even though they're available from app store.       Can launch app, enter my account info and select movie but when I click 'Play' it goes to the loading screen indefinitely with no timeout.

Tried restarting device, re-installing app,  clearing data,   even restoring factory settings on tablet with no success.   Also tried from Firefox browser with same result.

Tried contacting HP and they said as it wasn't installed on machine when shipped, they don't support and I should go back to Netflix.    Netflix in fairness to them tried everything and said the fact that they had exhausted all their steps and that it didn't even come up with error message indicated there were was something wrong with the hardware and I should go back to HP.

Does anybody know if all Slate 17's have this problem and is HP going to admit the problem is with the hardware rather than the app ?

Hi John,

Ahh I see thanks... Ok I got a solution for the Android version also.  Download netflix APK file manually instead of downloading it from the google play store.  Try to get an older version of the netflix app, I had this same issue occur on a tablet before.  After I manually installed an older version of netflix it worked.  Try it and see how it works out, if you need help on how to install an apk file https://www.androidpit.com/android-for-beginners-what-is-an-apk-file or where to find an older netflix version just go to google and type in Netflix APK download.  You will see a bunch of different versions play around with a few best bet would be is to see which version you are currently running and then go down one version and keep working your way down till you find the right one.  Good luck and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.
