Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I can't setup my Laserjet 1022n printer in my new windows 10 laptop.  I tried my usual way of using "Settings" --> devices & printers --> search for printer not listed.  This has worked and has been successful for other windows 10 machines for the same printer.  I last installed this printer on a similar laptop 3 months ago without any problems.  I tried many different ways...even letting windows download the list of drivers to select the manufacturer and the the printer(s).  For whatever reason, these older HP series of printers no longer show up in the list!  I went to the driver site and tried to find a close or compatible driver, but no drivers close to be found.  I tried the new virtual chat assistant and went round-and-round without an answer to my driver question - at least give me a cannot find driver answer!

BTW: the new virtural assistant sucks!  Useless as a Laserjet II driver on a win 10 machine!

@PucksterG, Welcome to HP Support Community!

First, uninstall any preinstalled drivers for the printer. Refer to the document HP Printers - Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows).

Next, I would suggest you try the Windows built-in drivers. Follow the steps below:

•    Go to Control Panel - Devices and Printers - Click on "Add printer" and follow the on-screen instructions.

•    When the page prompts for the drivers, select "Windows update". The driver list will be updated.

•    Click HP, Hewlett Packard, or Hewlett-Packard in the Manufacturer pane, and then click the name of your printer in the Printers pane.

Refer to this document HP Printers - Installing and Using the Windows Built-in Print Driver for help.

Keep me posted.
