I recently got a 'fuser error' status notification from my HP LaserJet Pro CP1025NW printer. Nobody seems to know exactly what it means. HP has NO information (typical) except to reset the machine (power off/on). Most 'outsiders' believe I need to replace the fuser unit, but it's not listed anywhere (typical). One bright spark thought it was connected to the drum imager, so I replaced that -- an (of course) it didn't solve the problem. I probably have to replace the fuser, but where to get parts and how to do it. Best guess on a replacement is about $200 and another $200 tohave an 'authorized' technician install it. I only paid $100 for the machine and it does exactly what I want. Repairing it for this kind of money or replacing it with a new 'fancy' one is just plain stupid. Dead in the water after only 9 months of very limited use. Shame on you HP. If I can't find a reasonable way to repair this I won't be buying HP ever again.

Device started getting fuser error out of the blue. New unit, about 1 year old.

Took all the cartridges out, then reseated them. No joy.

Finally I read in one of the HP docs that the black toner is linked to the fuser.

I replaced the black toner, and bam, error is gone.

I hope this helps someone!

Let me know if you get a solution, I am having the same problem.  Tried all the suggestions of unplugging for 25min and the plug directly into a wall outlet.  Still get the error.

Any solutions yet? I've the same problem.

I ended up talking with support and they did a great job of walking me through steps to try and solve the problem. In the end for my printer it ended up needing to be replaced.  They are sending me a refurb. with a 90 day warranty.

The steps they had me do, was first to remove the 4 printer cartridges. If the buttons to move to a cartridge do not work, then If you have the yellow cartridge up  open the top and there is a little white lever on the far left that you can push in with a pen that will allow you to rotate they cartridge assembly.  It will make a lot of clickety clicks as you turn it.  Turn until a cartridge is lined up for removal and remove it, then continue to rotate and remove all 4.  Make sure your have the latest firmware loaded on the printer. Then unplug the unit for at least 1 min. Check all paths to make sure there is no partial fed paper.   To do a factory reset close all doors and hold down the green, paper advance button and turn the unit back on.  Continue to hold the button for about 30sec.  Then release.  It should reset everything and then you should be able to press a cartridge button and have it rotate around to that color to insert the cartridge.  If it rotates you should be all set and put back in each cartridge and go.  If not, call support.

Similar problem to djwhite. Tried all the steps fgrossman was given to reset the printer, but still no luck. I get a fuser error, and toner cartridges will not stop in the right place, so I have to turn them manually to remove them. Printer is 18 months old, and otherwise looks and performs as new, but I cannot find the fuser part anywhere (including HP). Cost to take to repair will be more than buying a new printer (which I did), but I'd sure like the old one working so I don't just have an expensive parts supply shell. Does anyone know where I can find a fuser (I am electronics capable - former technician), but I don't even know where to find the fuser in the 1025, Thanks.

Don't by hp printers.  I have the same model that had a fuser error and died.  HP offered a refurbished unit for the same price I can get a new one for.  Lame!!!

I'm also having a fuser error repeatedly coming up.  I've had the printer for a little while (out of warranty) but it has been used so little that I haven't replaced a single toner in it yet.  This sucks!  I've always used another brand printer and then thought I'd try HP but I'l never buy HP again if this is the best they can do.

Never did receive any solution for my 1025 fuser error, so I ended up buying another refurbished 1025 unit. Perhaps that's what HP is looking for. In any case, it was much cheaper to buy a refurbished than to take the unit in for repairs. Well, at least I have lots of replacement parts, now, fo my new one (except for a fuser).

I had same experience and bought a new drum...didn't work.  Called HP and they won't tell me which cartridge holds the fuser unless I pay them because it's out of warranty.  If I'm going to pay all that I may as well buy a Lexmark.  I've been using them for years problem free!  I will never buy HP again.  Yes machines break down so it comes down to how they are serviced and charging to tell me what part to give them more money for is unreasonable.  Anybody need an imaging drum??
