P1505n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

We are using a tried but true P1505n and up until last night - it was working fine. I have one Windows 10 v1809 install that was not working correctly so I attempted a driver install using this package:

"hp_LJ_P1005_P1505_Full_Solution_ROW" Dated 2017(?)

During the install of the driver - which seemed to go fine - this package did a surprise firmware update and has now left the printer in a very corrupted state. I can no longer see the printer on the network (It had a IP of 192.168.1.50) and I also cannot print a configuration page when clicking the "GO" button. When I press it - I hear a clicking noise from within the the printer

Oddly this morning - I connected to unit directly to my PC via USB and WIndows found it it correctly and I was able to print a test page via the Printer driver interface. But any attempt to print a config page manually via the actual buttons on the device result in this clicking sound.

I feel like whatever firmware was installed during that driver install has now corrupted something. I cannot reset the network interface (By pressing GO and the "X" button at the same time) nor does the GO button do anything now.

Need some help to fix the corrupted firmware or possibly install a 2012 version that I have here (P1505n_FW_Upgrade_signed_1206_20120201).

If I run this one now - it finds no printers (either via USB or on the network)

Appreciate any assistance you can provide.

Cheers,

Sonic

Update: Last night on another site - I found the instructions to do a "cold" reset of the 1505n:

  1. Power down
  2. Press Go and Cancel at the same time while pressing Power on
  3. Keep holding the two buttons for a least 10 seconds after power on
  4. Printer came back up and I was able to print a configuration page normally!

So that one is solved. I have started a new thread to address a newly discovered driver problem with the 1505n
