Hi,
I am trying to troubleshoot for a car repair shop network.
Involved are:
3 HP Tower computers, 2 of which are from the previous owners of the business (so, about 8-10 years old, don't have model numbers at this time).
1 new HP computer, purchased within the last few weeks by new owner of business (don't have model number at this time).
1 HP LaserJet Pro M1217nfw (from previous owners, came with business, so 8-10 years old)
1 Spectrum Combination Modem/Router (don't have model number at this time).
A few weeks before this business upgraded their internet connection from 50 mb to 200 mb. Everything worked fine for a few weeks, then things started happening.
1. The printer started printing irregularly.
2. Communication between computers also became spotty.
3. The main customer counter computer internet connection started acting up sometimes staying connected for hours and sometimes only for a few minutes. It is hardwired to the new Spectrum modem/router.
It had Windows 7 on it. I am currently upgrading it to Windows 10. I am hoping that this will solve the internet connection for this computer.
The new Spectrum combo modem/router single is fine. I was able to connect my phone to it for testing purposes.
Originally, the printer was USB connected to one of the computers at the service counter. This computer is hardwired through Ethernet cable to the new Spectrum modem/router. Apparently this hookup worked up until about a week ago. All computers communicated OK and could print from any computer. Even the new HP computer was printing from the office wirelessly.
When issues started happening the owner upgrade the car business software on the new computer (in his office wirelessly connected to the Internet). This didn't change anything.
To troubleshoot I installed the HP Printer drivers on the new computer. This required that I use connect the copier first before making it a wireless connection. This worked for the new computer; I could make copies from the new computer wirelessly.
This worked until I troubleshooted one of the other computers to make copies too.
The result is that I can get one computer to work with the copier at a time if even that.
We broke for the weekend at that time. I will being back tomorrow to see what I can do.
So, far it seems to be the printer that has the issue. I will see it this HP printer has and Ethernet connection on the back of it to try a hardwired Ethernet connection from the printer to the modem/router. Hopefully there's one more port available?
Also, the only way I was able to setup the wireless connection in the first place was through the new computer when installing the printer drivers. When I tried through the copier interface it never recognized any Wi-Fi signals? So, there is no way to setup a Wi-Fi wireless connection to the copier from the copier.
Is it possible that the new upgraded internet speed may be causing this, the new modem/router?
Everything seems to be pointing to the Printer/copier having this issue. It is old. A car mechanic should be able to relate to that more than most that things don't work as good as they age.
So, I am just looking for any suggestions as to what might be a solution here to keep using the same printer?
Otherwise, I will suggest that he gets a new printer.
Thanks,
John
PD Hoping to get him up and running ASAP! Thanks!

@Johnz414, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I see that you are trying to configure the printer on the network to print wireless from the connected computers, I'd recommend you use the guided troubleshooter Troubleshooting | Wireless Printing Center
Also, use the user manual HP LaserJet M1130/M1210 MFP User Guide Wireless Addendum for wireless specific issues and instructions.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I have connected the hp printer to the Spectrum Modem/Router through an ethernet cable (instead of to the closest computer) and all three computers can now print almost everything.
The remaining issue is that the WinWorks Car Repair Shop software only prints from the computer with the software installed on it. Previously they could print using this software from any of the computers.
What does happen is that on the two computers on the network (not having this software on them) can open the software through the network but it only opens to Trial mod.
It gives the following as the error message:
"Registration Licensing is missing.
1. Hardware key not accessed on LPT1 address. Correct by installing hardware key on LPT Port or modify the LPT = address in the Autoshop.INI file.
2. The network license application not running on the computer with either the hardware key or registration software key.
3. Date between computers not synchronized."
(I made sure that all 3 computers are using the same auto clock time site, so the issue here)
The owner had this issue recently and had the WinWorks website do a remote fix which apparently didn't last.
If anyone knows about what this issue is talking about and how to correct it your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Any suggestions even where to look for this would be great.
The WinWorks website only offers remote fixing which the repair shop owner did with great expense. If his end up being the only solution I will make sure that I am there to see how it is corrected. I'm a little more cost effective.
Thanks,
John
