Hi @miketorres
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
I understand you're seeing a 49 Service Error on your printer and that the error continues even after performing multiple resets. Dont worry let me check and help you with this.
Kindly confirm the below details :
- Does the 49 Service Error appear immediately when the printer powers on, or after it becomes ready?
- Can you access the printer's control panel menus, or does the error prevent access completely?
In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :
- Turn off the printer and disconnect all cables except the power cable (USB, Ethernet, fax, etc.).
- Remove any USB flash drives or external devices connected to the printer.
- Turn the printer back on and check if it reaches the Ready screen.
- If the printer starts normally, reconnect one cable at a time to identify whether a print job or device is triggering the error.
- If you can access the control panel, navigate to:
- Setup > Service > Restore Defaults
- Confirm the reset and allow the printer to restart.
- If the printer becomes accessible, update the firmware using HP's official - https://support.hp.com/

A 49 Service Error typically occurs when the printer encounters an unexpected firmware, print-job, communication, or formatting issue and is unable to process a task correctly. In many cases, the error can be related to a corrupted print job, network communication issue, outdated firmware, or a hardware-related condition.
I hope this helps.
