Home user. Purchased new cartridges that turned out to be "instant ink". I have never been enrolled in that and these are the extra ink version. Printer error!!!

Am I stuck and out a lot of $$$? All boxes and seals gone. Is this what HP is doing to unknowing customers? I feel screwed over!

Where did you purchase the cartridges? Maybe you got taken advantage of by a disreputable seller and not HP.

Probably bought at Wally. Did not check that it was "instant ink". Did not know there was a difference. Must have been in the fine print that HP sent. Seems like an HP gimmick. Regardless, I am out $$ and not happy.

Never a problem with my old Lexmark. Died after 12 years of steady use.

Instant ink cartridges are not sold at retail outlets, they are shipped directly to subscribers and are useless outside of a subscription. If instant ink cartridges somehow managed to get into a retail package, the packaging and your bill of sale would likely have helped to resolve this issue for you. Lacking any supporting evidence one could argue that you purchased these from an unauthorized source, who did not tell you they would be useless.

Thanks for talking down to me.

Before retiring as and Engineer, I was way above the average person in IT. Guess now I am a complete know nothing. How long have you worked for HP?

I will find another brand of printer.
