I own an HP 8600 and have had a 950XL black ink cartidge for months. It is now empty and when I went to buy another my printer is saying the ink is incompatible. The ONLY difference I am seeing on the two cartridges is the one I had is "CN045AE" and the one now is "CN045AN" which I can't seem to find and purchase the AE anywhere. I have tried three different 950XL cartirdges and they are all giving me that notice. What can I do?

Hi,

Any zone related issue would be my first guess.

What country are you from?

What zone is listed on your rejected ink cartridge?

What zone is listed on the old cartridge and the other print cartridges in your printer?

I am from the US and my old cartridge says for use only in Europe, Russia, CIS, Middle East and Africa. I honestly have no idea why or how I got it. The new cartridge obviously says For use in US and Canada. I wouldn't even know how to get my hands on one of the other cartridges with that other zoning...

Thanks for clarifying.

You would need to get a Full set of HP 950 and 951 cartridges with Z10 for US or Canada and have the printer connected to a computer., then contact HP Support in the US to reset your printer to accept local cartridges in the USA from now on.

Note: that cannot be done without all cartridges, the printer must all 4 use ink cartridges intended for the same region.

Contacting HP can be done by disputing the warranty. Be sure to clearly describe you would need a region reset and select "Accessories in Warranty:

If you experience difficulties contacting HP as your printer is out of warranty, please let me know and I will do my best to assist.
