MFP M477fnw
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a relatively new  MFP M477fnw printer that scans and feeds paper just fine.  The  problem is it thinks there are more sheets of paper than there are.  When it doesn't find them, it gives a "Document Mispick. Reload" error and wants to try again. It does this when scanning or making a copy.  It doesn't matter if you are trying it from the Control Panel or the PC. It acts as if a sensor is stuck "on" somewhere.

Hi @rs13,

I reckon you are correct. There is a sensor on the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder) that detects the presence of paper in the ADF. You will have to service that sensor and check if it has been out of possition or broken. I am not 100% sure about this model, but normally when you place paper in the ADF a light or/and a sound prompts the user that the ADF has detected the paper.

I hope that helps,

Cheers!

Hi there,

if this  "Document Mispick. Reload" happens frequently when picking up, and you are sure your have loaed paper media properly onto ADF with the paper guide adjusted fine.  I guesss you would need to engage HP support for examining the ADF Hardware. potencially you might have a ADF hardware component failure or some mechanical mis-behave.

hope it would help.

Hello rs13,

Welcome to HP Forums.

Thank you for posting your query. I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are getting "Document Mispick. Reload" Error while trying to copy or scan.

Below are the few troubleshooting steps you can try:

1. Remove all the papers and open the scanner hatch.

2. Check for any obstacle.

3. Clean the rollers and the complete area with a damp cloth. (Any sensors which are pressed will be released)

4.  Adjust the paper guides

5. Keep the paper again on the tray.

6. Try to copy or scan and check.

If the issue remains, call on our Tollfree number 1800112267 (India) and register a complain.

A reset is required which will be guided by the HP customer support executive. If the issue is not resolved an Egineer's visit will be arranged for you.
