After recent HP Universal Printer Driver auto installed (end of feb 2026), the Media field only has paper thickness, there is no option to select photo paper.

How do I select photo paper? I set it on the printer, I print the word document (with 2 photos on it) and the printer says the document doesn't match the media.

Argh

I checked the properties and it has Universal Printing Device.

However, selecting printer properties from MSWord this time had Plain Paper, Photo Paper, ... as selectable under Media type. Last night it had a digit followed by what looked like a size in mm.

Most strange. Ok now.

Thanks

Are you certain it is the HP UPD and not a Microsoft IPP or Class driver? HP does not auto push UPD drivers, at least not that I have seen in any documentation.

To check, on your computer go to control panel, devices and printers and the  right  click on the icon for your printer and select printer properties from the drop down menu.  Click on the advanced tab to see what driver is installed.

The issue you are having is consistent with an IPP driver being installed as they only support basic functions.
