I'm on Mac OSX 10.13.2 and was seeing the error while printing to a 700 Color MFP M775 from MS Word and Excel 2016. Didn't get the error while printing to a MFP M277dw. Cleared my ~Library/Caches, rebooted, reset my print system, and re-added printers to no avail.
Wasn't until I changed the font from Calibri to something was I able to print. Strange....

I tried this too. Original document done in Excel; saved as .xlsx then saved in Excel as PDF. Using default font Calibiri.
XLSX file gave "undefined result xshow" error. Ditto for PDF using Preview and Acrobat Reader.
Changed font to Cambria per Dannau's post. Now printing in Excel and Preview and Acrobat with no glitches.

I need to amend my statement from last week.
Upgrading to 10.13.2 did NOT fix the problem. Printing via an Airprint configuration appears to have the most luck. What doesn't print on Airprint seems to work on the normal Bonjour or Jetdirect settings. Now, I have three configs for the same printer: Airprint (Secure), Jetdirect, and normal Bonjour.
I put an Apple case in at the end of October, but they've stopped communicating on it.

This is kind of ridiculous!
With my printer, a HP Laser Jet M552dn, I’m having the same problem printing from Word, Excel or PDF's, some documents just generate the message:
ERROR : undefinedresult
OFFENDING COMMAND : xshow (or sometimes show)
I am running High Sierra 10.13.2
Office 365 version 15.41
HP Easy Start
2.8.0.177 8.3 MB Dec 12, 2017
FutureSmart Bundle Version 3.8.9 - HP LaserJet M552_553 Series Printer FIRMWARE
2308903_577315 80.9 MB Nov 10, 2017
All this software, drivers and firmware are the most recent.
Changing font sometimes works, but mostly it doesn't.
I bought the printer two months ago as a replacement and to start with I thought there would be a driver etc update to fix the problem, sounds like Apple and HP don't care...

I agree. I have the M551dn, probably a older model of yours. All the printing issues started when I upgraded to High Sierra a few months ago; prior to that, the printer worked perfectly on the same Mac. I put a case in with Apple and spent quite a bit of time on the phone with them. Nothing resolved.
The offending files (MS Office and PDF's), which don't print from my High Sierra Mac, print perfectly, to the same printer over the same network, when printing from another Mac running Sierra. At least for my situation, Apple's High Sierra is causing the problem.
Try configuring your printer to AirPrint, not Bonjour or Jetdirect. That makes it work most of the time for me. Good luck.

We have about 15 HP printers with this issue. 575,577 and 775.
I tried several different versions of firmware with no change so it does appear to be on the client side as far as I can tell.
It does also seem to be related to at least the Calibri font. I had a document that wouldn’t print. 4 pages. When I changed the font from Calibri to another font on pages 1-2 then those pages would print. The 3rd page generated the error. There may be other fonts affected, but Calibri is the most common at my company.
Another behavior we have noticed is that sometimes if a document fails to print, then more will fail after that even though the documents would print normally. A reboot seems to clear this.

If you are experiencing this issue, please contact HP Support.

HP Support just now told me that HP has not released drivers that fully support 10.13 yet. The current ones are beta drivers. They do not have an ETA.
I have this issue even when using Generic PostScript drivers.
/confused
I also tried setting up using HP JetDirect, but that did not help. I see the error mainly when trying to print through Firefox.

"contact HP support"
Seriously? That’s an answer from a HP employee for numerous people having the same issue with numerous printers and configurations for us to individually contact HP support?
Seriously?!?!?!?
Beyond belief.
