Glad to hear HP are working on a firmware fix for this issue but can't see why it just can't be made available via the normal procedure on each devices Support page? Surely would save a lot of leg work for the S3 engineers not needing to issue out the file(s)....

The office I'm currently supporting is experiencing this same error from High Sierra Macs printing to both M880 and M630 MFP devices, hopefully they'll also receive an upate?

If your printer is running FutureSmart 3, you will need to upgrade to the upcoming FS 3.9.1 (Interim firmware release) which will be available in mid-Feb.  Again, contact HP and they can provide you the firmware (you may need to request an escalation to L3 support).

Thanks to have finally an answer for our problem.

I contacted HP Support today. It was not possible to get L3-Support!!

I was told to sit back and wait till the firmware is published or contact Apple-Support (Good joke by the way...)

Maybe there is a difference between german support and other.

Waste of time...

Command + P seemed to work.... as a work around for now.

Just kidding?

it doesn‘t make a difference if you print via File/Print and cmd-p.

I was just on the phone with HP support (in the US). My ticket has been escalated to their level 2 support, but that team is apparently unaware of an interim or pre-release version of firmware. They said they would talk to the level 3 support, but couldn't keep me on the line. They are supposed to call me back tomorrow (edit: Jan 23, 2018) with an update. Fingers crossed.

I started the ticket as a chat session and referenced this forum thread, and had to keep referring to posts in the thread to get the support representative to read it and acknowledge that this is a bigger issue. It also helps me keep written notes of my interaction with the support reps.

Great! thank you!

So far I've had to just revert to the PostScript driver and offer Adobe Reader to High Sierra users.. can't wait for this to resolve..

I have no idea what to say to the reps on the phone to get past level 2 support. I've been told twice that I'm going to have to wait until mid-February, when the firware is currently scheduled to be released to the public. And no one at HP has been able to confirm that this firmware will actually resolve this issue.

Support HP say:

"In this issue, Apple's fault, why they changed the encoding when printing, without notifying the vendor"

Expect a new firmware version in February.
