HP LaserJet Pro M452dn
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have all the classic symptoms for this fix.  59.F0 on the display & 59.0240 ITB's in the log. I have obtained the DCCV1_51.prn DCC firmware and instructions. I do not have the walk up USB which leaves me with methods 2 (FTP) & 3 (Local USB print). I've tried both methods which appear to work from the CMD lines.  In each case the file is transferred successfully. However, the printer does not reboot and my original controller number (14600) is not changed to this firmware's number (15101) indicating the flash did not succeed. Am i missing something?

Successful file transfer doesn't mean much, you need to see Programming message on the printers front panel, it last for like a minute ( maybe less) then you have successfully uploaded DCC firmware.

I use on M452dn FileZilla ( easier than FTP from CMD)  to update the firmware it's a drag and drop. And sometimes even with FileZilla, the firmware need to send it a couple of times ( don't know why). I even had one M452 that I tried to update firmware like 20 times from several computers and does nothing, and then 21st attempt it went through successfully. Be patient, send it several times if necessary and it will be done as it should.

We typically use Method 3 for the M452 series printers. The device does not always restart and sometimes needs a manual restart. We did have one unit that flat out refused to accept the upgrade and in this case the DC controller had to be replaced. Make sure that when typing the command to send the file you do not forget the /b as this tells the printer to expect a binary file not a printable file.

Loaded up Filezilla and got it on the 3rd try.  Thanks Valismot for advising me to keep whacking at it. Persistence pays off.

Appreciate your input,
