Hi @Judy_P,
A warm welcome to the HP community. 🙂 A very good day to you. 🙂 I reviewed the post about duplexing issues with the printer. I will be glad to assist you with this. 🙂
Fabulous description and superb diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you on that score. 🙂 You are a valued HP customer and I take it as a privilege to share this platform with you. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better, I would require more information regarding this.
- Has it ever worked before?
- Please let me know the operating system of the computer to assist you better.
- Did any software or windows update cause this to change and not duplex?
For a start please try these steps:
Please update the printer firmware from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-color-laserjet-pro-mfp-m277-series/7089945/model... and select the correct operating system before updating the printer firmware. Then check if this fixes the issue.
If it does not, please uninstall the printer software completely by following these steps:
- In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
- Select your HP printer.
- Select Uninstall.
- In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
- In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
- Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
- Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
- Click on Drivers tab.
- Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
- Select OK.
- Remove all instances of the same.
- Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
- Close Devices and Printers.
Then reinstall the full feature software from the same link mentioned above. Please select the correct operating system and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. Then check again. This should do the trick for you.
Please send a screenshot of the exact screen that you see if this does not fix the issue.
Please keep me posted. I will keep a watch for your reply.
Hope this helps. Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great. 🙂 Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help.
If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. 🙂
Take care now and have a splendid week ahead. 🙂

I had to reformat my computer (twice) in a week, and now I can't get the duplexing to be automatic. I read your answer, but I do not know how to log in with administrator credentials. I did find the uninstalled spot your referenced in device settings, but have no idea how to fix this! Help please.
