Automatic Document Feeder Cover won't close

Hello, I am having the exact same problem as in Automatic Document Feeder Cover won't close  that is an old locked post, so I have to create a new one.  In that post, an HP support agent sent a solution to the original poster by private message. Can anyone from HP support take a look at this? Thanks.

Check for any obstructions or damages.

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document - ADF does not pick paper or feeds in too many sheets

In the previous thread that you mentioned, the customer was referred to phone support as it is a hardware issue.
