I cannot automatically scan double sided.

it needs to be done manually which is very time consuming

Use to be able to do it on M476 which is like a 5 years old printer

**EDIT** My original post is accurate except in the case of the dw model as noted by @ShlomiL . (thanks for catching that dropped ball and my apologies to the OP for the confusion.) Should be no reason you need to manually double sided scan. The 479 does everything the 476 did. They are virtually identical units, Are you able to double sided copy? If yes you have a setting issue on your scanning software. If not, there might be a problem with the second scanner in the ADF.

Hi,

The M479dw only offer simplex scanning capabilities, not single-pass two-sided scanning, see Note number 5 within its datasheet:

Single pass, two-sided scanning is not available on the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M479dw model. The MFP M479dw offers simplex scanning capabilities.

I afraid the specific printer model cannot scan both sides automatically as your previous printer could @Vince14.
