M277dw
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My M277dw recently began sounding a beep and then 4 grunting sounds approximately every 5 minutes and it's driving me crazy.  I've looked into the user's guid and found nothing to explain it. I've printed a 'Test Report' which printed a lot of info and 'No Problems found'.  Any ideas what might be causing the Beep/Ugg/Ugg/Ugg/Ugg ?

THanks, Mike,

Hi! @Mike01887, I am the MrRobot. It looks like you were interacting with @sandytechy20, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.

Thanks for your valuable time and patience.

I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned even after trying out the steps the issue still persists.

Try performing a super NVRAM reset on your printer and check if it helps.

Since the steps to perform super NVRAM reset is confidential I will send you the steps in a private message, please watch your inbox for more information.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps it is a hardware issue, please contact HP Support for service options.

Have a great day ahead! 🙂

@Mike01887

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are getting noise from the printer every 5 minutes. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

Reset the printer.

  • Remove the power cable from rear from the printer.
  • Press and hold the power button for 60secs.
  • Release the power button and connect the power cable to printer.
  • And directly to wall outlet.
  • Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware.

Let me know how it goes.

I hope it helps and if you feel I have answered your question and concerns,

Please mark this post as a solution accepted and Kudos would also be appreciated.

Cheers.

Hi Sandytechy20,

Thanks for the advice....Although there was no indication, I downloaded the newest SW and I believe the printer software was loaded on the printer. (Note that the printer is wirelessly connected to my internet connected computer.)

About 5 minutes after the loading was complete I got another "Beep/Ugu/Ugh/Ugh/Ugh".  So, It looks like the fix was not successful.  I'll be able to tell you more in about 5 minutes.....

One difference between the task list you sent was when I plugged the printer power cable in the printer powered up immediately by itself.

Another 5 minutes have elapsed and I got anther 'Beep/Ugg/Ugg/Ugg/Ugg'. So, unless I've done something wronk, it looks like the fix has't worked.

And, just now, and another 'Beep/Ugg/Ugg/Ugg/Ugg'  just now....Mike  (guess I'm a low typist...)

Hi MrRobot,  I followed your NVRAM reset procedure about a half hour ago and haven't heard the BEEP/UGG sequence since.  It appears that your process was successful in eliminaing the problem.   Thank you and SandyTechy20 very much,  Mike
