I just installed a new HP 49A toner cartridge in my LaserJet 1160 printer. I am getting black (obviously) horizontal streaks across the page when printing - something that has never happened before. If printing content, the streaks contain material from further up the page. There are 7 streaks, each approximately 3/8" in width. Any suggestions on how to eliminate the streaks would be greatly appreciated. Yes, it's an ancient printer, but it has served us well - until this moment.

Bad cartridge needed to be replaced.
If you still keep the old one put it in and print you will see the diffenence.
If it is just the way as what i said you may be want to try to exchange drum of each other you may be yes or may be not get a good one to be useful.
There're videos on YouTube of how to rebuilt HP Q5949A/X.
You just need to figure out how to take the drum out and put it back there's no need to take it all apart completely.
