HP Laserjet 200 M251nw
macOS 10.12 Sierra

My OS has no bearing on this problem -- the printer prints blank pages only even when printing a demo or cleaning page directly from the printer itself. I have upgraded my OS a few times and this problem has persisted throughout.

It started out printing the most garbled pages I've ever seen -- all-over crosshatches of multiple colors or prints in which the page is clearly overlayed multiple times. I upgraded the firmware and now it prints only blank or pastel bands, which look much like someone colored the page lightly with a crayon in bands, various colors horizontally on the page.

I've tried calibration, cleaning, replacing ALL toner carts with brand new ones, and unplugging it for 60 seconds. I have reset to default. I have plugged it directly into a wall outlet.

First two images are demo pages from before everything went completely blank. The third image is a color picture printed from my Mac.IMG_2977.JPGIMG_2977.JPGIMG_2975.JPG

Hi! @erinaine, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!

I understand your printer prints blank and garbled pages.

Don't worry I will try to help you out.

What happens when you try to make a copy from your printer? Does the issue persist?

Please try the steps recommended below.

Check the print cartridges for sealing tape and any damage
Open the print cartridge door completely.
Pull out the print cartridge drawer completely, if your printer has one.
To each print cartridge, grasp the handle, and then pull straight out to remove it.
If the print cartridge seal is in place, remove it. Pull the tab on the end of the print cartridge to remove the entire length of the seal.
Check the print cartridges for leaks, gouges, and broken plastic.
Check the imaging drum on each print cartridge for contamination, marks, scratches, excess toner, or any other obvious damage.
Do not touch the green roller (imaging drum) on the bottom of the print cartridge. Fingerprints on the imaging drum can cause print-quality problems.
Reinstall each print cartridge, and then close the print cartridge drawer completely if your printer has one.
Try to print.
If all the print cartridges are undamaged, continue to the next solution.
If one or more of the print cartridges are damaged, contact HP to check the warranty status.

Thanks. I have tried all the steps described, there is no change to the status of my problem.

I actually installed ALL NEW toner cartridges yesterday in an attempt to resolve this issue. I have confirmed that all seals and tape were removed. All rollers and drums on the cartridges appear to be clean and intact.

Any other suggestions?

Hi! @erinaine, Thanks for your quick response and time.

I appreciate your efforts for trying out the steps.

As you mentioned you have replaced all the toner cartridges with the new one but the issue still persists.

Please Print the print quality page (LCD control panel)
   NOTE:
This section applies to the HP LaserJet Pro 200 color M251n Printer model only.
From the Home screen on the product control panel, touch the Setup button.
Touch the Reports button.
Touch the Print Quality Page button.

If the issue persists directly printing from the printer control panel.

Try Printing a cleaning page (LCD control panel)
   NOTE:
This section applies to the HP LaserJet Pro 200 color M251n Printer model only.
At the control panel, press the OK button to open the menus.
Open the following menus:
Service
Cleaning Page
Load plain paper in Tray 1, and then press the OK button to start the cleaning process.
The product prints the first side and then prompts you to remove the page from the output bin and reload it in Tray 1, keeping the same orientation (the side with the black stripe should be face-down with the arrow toward the back of the product).
Press the OK button to continue the cleaning process. Wait until the process is complete. Discard the page that prints.

If the issue still persists after trying out the steps, It is a hardware issue with your printer.

I could have guessed it's a hardware problem from the start. Does that mean no one here can help? Should I just throw the printer away and buy another brand? This one has printed a total of maybe 200 sheets and it's trash?
