Hi,
I have a HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 dw and am using Mac OS 10.15 Catalina. I am trying to print a borderless images in a 4x6 in size on this printer and I cannot get it to work. In the "Layout" settings I have chosen "Border: None" and also tried turning on "Scale image to fit paper size" in the "Paper Handling" settings. None of this works. I have also tried printing through Adobe pdf reader, Indesign, Preview and via the HP Smart app and still no luck. Does anyone have any insights or advice?
Thanks in advance!
Ash

You can't print with Borderless printing that's what laser printer designed to protect itself.
If you print on A4/Letter or any size of paper they all have its border and you cant't change it.
But you can "lie" to the print by "telling" it what you use its a larger paper but what you really use is a smaller size of paper. In this way you may have a false borderless printing result as you like.

Thank you! That is really helpful information and makes sense. I'll most likely print my 4x6 on larger sheets and cut them out or invest in a true borderless printer. 😞
I also read up on the reason - as you say it is to protect the printer since low end printers don't have the technology to print to the edge of the paper without damaging the printer itself. It's a shame that most manufacturers don't really highlight that borderless printing is not possible on low end printers. 😞
Thanks again for your reply! Much appreciated!
