For a long time when printing photos or pages that have full color background, the 1st page has a "shadow" for about a half page and if I print 2 copies the 2nd copy is perfect. So my workaround had been to print an additional page whenever I am printing, for example if I"m printing 8 copies then I print 9.
I'm thinking reinstalling driver might work, but when I search HP for driver for CP1215 I get a driver for CP1210 and unsure if that is the same "series" and/or if that is worth trying.
In absence of a driver (or other) solution, what is the next generation of CP1215 and/or an HP Printer that is miserly on toner? My business is JustPaperRoses and we start with white paper so when you see a red rose it's a full sheet, 2-sided printed red.

Shadowing is likely due to the fuser not reaching optimum temperature on first print. This happens as machines get older, but can also be caused by incorrect paper type settings, IE using any paper type instead of proper paper type like plain or bond. It is very unlikely for the driver to cause this issue as it has no control over the printer. You may also want to ensure that you are using the current firmware by printing a configuration page and comparing the installed firmware version to the current version listed at support.hp.com. Update as required, often these updates include adjustments to DC controller boards in the printer that do have a direct affect on fusers.

Hi Repairatrooper and thanks for your reply. I thought it might be a fuser issue but eliminated that because when the "shadow" is just partial on a page there is a distinct line where it is, and where it ends and I would think a warming issue would be a smooth transition from shadow to no shadow.
I did speak with HP and was told this printer is no longer supported since 2016 and Windows 10 was introduced in 2017 so the driver isn't compatible.
My "work around" is I bought a new printer from HP
