It appears you are having an issue with the black toner slot where it appears the drum is not turning. To test place the 3 colored toners in their correct slots and leave the black slot empty. Since the printer also uses the 3 colors to supplement black printing I think you will get a good config page but light. If that happens again remove all toner cartridges and then slowly start to close the front door and you should see I think a white roller (cam) start to come out from the right side towards the left which is the cam that engages the toner cartridge and is responsible for making the drum on the toner rotate. That cam is part of the MDA assembly located on the right side of the printer and if that part is broken then the MDA assembly will need to be replaced.

Printed the page with all cartridges in their proper slots except for black. The page was totally blank except for a thin, horizontal magenta line across the top of the page about 1 1/4" from the top edge of the page and on the reverse side, a yellow blotch in the lower left part of the page. My scanner did not show these very well, ergo no image.

It has been a long time so I did some research and the cam is actually black. I have placed a link below which is actually how to replace the MDA and it shows all 4 cams but you have to rotate the picture 90 degrees. Look at page seven of the link and the black roller (cam) for each toner is below the yellow and blue arrows. Now look at the next page and you will see them as they sit in the printer. When you close the door each of them at the same time will move to the right just a bit so as to engage the interlock on the toner cartridge. Just look at the right side of the toner and you will see the mech that turns the drum. My feeling is the black one at the top does not move enough or has a broken piece so it can not turn the cartridge drum.
One other thing you can try which is a long shot is with the power off, remove the formatter on the right side by pressing both black cliips towards each other and pulling out. Now reinsert with a good shove and put all cartridges back in place and see what happens.

After removing all of the toner cartridges, and closing the front door slowly, I did finally see rollers (cams?) on the right side move to the left as the door was closing. The cams are black and wrapped around by rollers with teeth which are white. These mechanisms appear to be moving to the left in unison.
I appreciate your sending me the link with the photos of the innards of the printer, but I not comfortable dismantling the printer. Besides, I don't think I'll be able to find an Main Drive Assembly (MDA) for the HP CP3505dn.
Since these lines are on the right side of the printed pages and the pages come out in the output tray upsidedown, the lines are created on the left side of the printer.
Any other ideas? Thanks!

The fact that with the cyan toner in the black slot prints a blank page tells me there is an issue with that slot. Put the 3 colored toners in their slot and in the back of the printer and use the attached to print an engine test and let us know what you get. What I would do is first try with the 3 colored toners in their slots and then move the cyan toner to the black slot and do it again. If cyan is missing that tells us the slot on you printer has an issue which could be high voltage or something else. In fact you can put the black in the cyan slot and you should get black lines instead of cyan.

It appears all colors are printing. Did you try the suggestion I gave you before of removing and reinserting the formatter. It is real easy to do as you just turn off the power and remove the power cord. Now the formatter is in the rear on the right side. Just press the two black bars towards each other and pull outward and the formatter will come out. Then just reinsert and give it a good shove. Reconnect and power up and see if you can get a good page from the control panel information menu. I think there is a demo page which will have all colors. If the menu remains blank after removing the formatter it means you did not push it in hard enough and just do it again with the power off.
