CP5225n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi - new CP5225n LaserJet - testing Word and Excel - it only prints black and white.  The demo page does print in color.

Add the printer in Windows 10, it provides the driver (says that it queries the printer for the driver).

It appears that when I manually update my computer with the latest version of the PCL 6 driver downloaded from HP, the printer does print in color.

Question: Can I get the printer to know that there is a newer PCL driver - so that when I have my 25 network users add the printer, they get the newest driver with the printer?

OBTW - firmware is up-to-date.

Thanks

Can you push the Driver to your users?

Windows is probably using a Preloaded Microsoft driver that it thinks goes with the printer, if you put the HP Driver on the users Computers it will probably use it instead.

Now the printer only prints black - no matter which driver I use.  I cannot find a setting in the printer settings - is there something I am missing om the printer setup? :Crying:

There is likely an embedded web server setting to restrict color which I would verify in your situation.

There is also usually a tab in the driver that will have a checkbox for printing grayscale.

Sometimes rather than updating a driver you have to delete it and then load the HP driver for some reason during the update drivers can end up with a strange merge that doesn't work right.

I finally gave up and instructed each user to do this: Printer Properties, Device Settings tab, scroll to the bottom, Device Type, Change setting to Color, Apply.

We only use that network printer when we need color; otherwise we print to a networked black and white LaserJet.

I appreciate your help.

Thanks!

Dear,

Open Control panel, Printer properties, Device settings (universal printer driver). Change device type to Color .

It will work.

Thanks,

Jojo
