LaserJet Pro M102w
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have a new HP LaserJet Pro M102w laser printer which I am told uses a USB 2.0 port but my laptop PC (EliteBook 840 G2) and docking station (2013 UltraSlim) have only USB 3.0 ports. I don't have the option of using the wireless setup for network security reasons. The driver setup software does not detect the printer. Is there a workaround to use the 3.0 port? I have a 4-port USB hub which I believe has all 2.0 ports. Not sure if there exists an adapter to convert output. Please advise.

Yup, the M102 is USB2.0 only:

USB is supposed to be backwards compatible but I believe we have seen reports like this in the past for other models.  Something in the way the install is coded is looking for something that exists in USB2.0 and not USB3.0.  You will have to find a way to give the installation wizard what it is looking for.

The USB hub is likely your best shot for this one.

There is some hope posted here:

Someone posted here that they simply tried to install a print driver from a different model that was USB2.0 and got it to work.  In that case you could consider trying the UPD for PCL6 or PostScript as a similar solution.  These are current print drivers that should have no issues supporting USB3.0 where as the native drivers might only work with 2.0.
