Hi @RayGar12,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Error 75 on HP printers typically indicates a cartridge authentication or printer initialization failure.

Why Error 75 Occurs

  • The printer cannot validate the ink cartridges (often on HP+ or Instant Ink models).
  • Firmware or network issue during cartridge check.
  • Incorrect or damaged cartridge chip.

Steps to Fix:

1. Power Reset

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord for 60 seconds.
  • Plug directly into a wall outlet and restart.

2. Remove and Reseat Cartridges

  • Open the cartridge access door.
  • Remove all cartridges, inspect for protective tape or damage.
  • Reinstall firmly.

3. Check Cartridge Type

  • If your printer is HP+ or Instant Ink enrolled:
    • Only HP Instant Ink or HP+ cartridges will work.
    • Standard cartridges will trigger error 75.

4. Update Firmware

  • Use the HP app or go to Official HP® Support.
  • Download and install the latest firmware for your printer model.

5. Restore Factory Defaults

  • On the printer: Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Factory Defaults.
  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi and retry setup.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!
