Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When I click on my printer icon on my desktop it wont open. I have even tried opening is with "run as administrator" and it still wont open. I can print and copy from this pc, I just can't open it to scan something

How is the printer connected to the computer, USB or Wireless?

My printer is a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and I go through wifi

Welcome to HP forums.

 

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers. 
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer driver

I received your e-mail with the instructions of uninstalling and re-installing the printer software. I'm not sure what all I uninstalled but I had to purchase another driver for my printer and it still wont open. I have been at this off and on, because of work interruptions, for 4 hours and I am tire of it. I would like for somebody to contact me about fixing this for me.

I request you to talk to HP support when you find time, so that they can assist you.

They might have multiple options to help you with this.

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on "Continue as guest".

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
