My office recently inherited a 3525 color printer from another department that was downsized.
The printer worked fine in the other department, but we cannot get it to install at it's new location.
We set it up by ethernet cable and went thru trying to install it, but it did not work. We tried a different port(s), 4 times, and each time, the printer was showing the same hostname and IP address. On the 6th try, we finally got it showing a different IP address (same hostname though), but we still cannot get it working.
Can anyone help me?

I downloaded one of the manuals, and ended up disabling the network protocols. That solved the problem.
Thanks for the help!

Welcome to the HP Community @Aubbie,
I saw your post about the troubles you're having with installing the Deskjet Ink Advantage 3525 on a Windows 7 system via Ethernet, and wanted to reach out with my own suggestions!:)
Try each step, in order from this troubleshooting guide and you should be connected afterwards: Printer Not Found During Network Driver Setup (Windows)
If there are still issues connecting, I would suggest trying a different connection method, or a clean boot and try the install again.
How to perform a clean boot in Windows
If you run into any issues, let me know the details and I will do my best to help.
Hit the "Accept as Solution" if we've reached a solution, and the "thumbs up" to say thanks for my help.

We don't use routers, and the printer is not actually connected to any computer, it's connected to an ethernet jack in the wall. The printer is actually in an office area next door. We have a black & white HP printer in there that works fine.
I tried changing the hostname, but it would not save for some reason.
The 3525 is working in that I can print menu maps, etc. from the printer interface.
I've also done multiple installs of the driver, but it still won't work.

Hi there Aubbie, thanks for getting back to me!
With some further research, I have come to the realization that you likely do not have the Deskjet 3525, in which I originally thought. I think you may have the LaserJet CP3525, which is a commercial product. Although I do not specialize in commercial printers, I would still like to help with making suggestions.
I would say to have a look through the user manuals here: HP Color LaserJet CP3520 Printer Series
If you cannot find the solution in the manuals, I would lastly suggest contacting your IT department to have them try installing the printer.
All the best,

Hello @Aubbie
The printer may need a reset to accept a new network configuration there are different resets that you can do my recommendation go one by one and try for instance try the 1st one and connect the printer to the network and print a configuration report to get the IP address and see if it take the new configuration (you need to know the format for the current ip configuration to make sure it matches and it is connected properly)
Hard disk initialization (optional)
Say thanks by clicking the Kudos Thumbs Up to the right in the post.
