I am trying to register the printer to Azure Universal Print via HP website.  I got the token, and I signed in. Azure shows that the account has successfully logged in.  The account is a service account with the Print Administrator role and license.  However, no matter how I register, I get an error.  "Some Internal Error happened.  Try again. Error Code 1.  To request a new code and start over, click "Start Over".  The printer is an HP Color Laserjet Enterprise M652dn, and it has the latest firmware.  Firewall allows the internet to the printer. I am not sure what is stopping me from registering this printer in Azure.  It appears that the printer is supported for Universal Printer.

Having the same issue with E52645c, any support from HP?

I just had the same issue. For anyone looking at this forum in the future. Please make sure to walk up to the printer and make sure that all your alerts are cleared. In my case, this was an older printer that was newly updated to the latest firmware FS 5, originally from FS 4. I was seeing error code 1 when attempting to register. After adding paper, and accepting the new terms, allowing HP autosend, etc. The error stopped appearing and it let me add the printer. Also, make sure you are signed in as an administrator on the HP web portal.

If you have Conditional Access policies in Entra ID, it can help to confirm if you have device code flow blocked with your Sysadmin, Account Admins or IAM administrators. You will need to have that auth restriction disabled or excluded from your account, then try again in 15-20 minutes. Ensure you have printer administrator PIM role and at least contributor role in Azure resources enabled, as well. Sign out of your account and sign back in to allow the tokens to be updated. Clear browser cookies and cache and restart your browser, wait 15-20 minutes and try to re-register your printer, if all else fails.
