Cardstock always jams

My LaserJet Pro no longer prints cardstock. It jams every time. It used to work. I adjust all the appropriate settings on the printer and in the software. It prints plain and labels, but always jams immediately with cardstock.

Likely a dirty or worn out pickup roller that is not feeding the paper properly. Also if you have paper weight that is on the extreme edge of rated media capability it usually works when new but performance fades. Where does it jam?

It jams almost immediately, just the front of the paper gets grabbed. Is there any remedy besides buying a new printer? Which I'm loathe to do. Just bought new toner.

The pickup roller should be clean and have fingerprint like ridges. Clean the roller with a water dampened lint free cloth. If the roller is smooth it will require replacement.
