Example: Color Laser Jet Pro M454dw

Bought a brand new Color Laser Jet Pro M454dw on March 17, 2020 because the crisis requires everyone in New Jersey to work at home. After six days of great printing, the machine has stopped working. Error message is Cartridge Error Message.

Event Code 10.00.12, 10.01.12, 10.02,12 and 10.03.12.  I guess this means the printer is not reading all four of the cartridges.

I have taken the cartridges out and reinstalled about 10 times. Have plugged an unplugged the printer 10 times. Have reinstalled the printer on my computer.

Can anyone help me? Has anyone had a similar problem with a brand new color laser printer?

Thank you JIm

That is definitely a hardware issue with the printer. Make sure you're not plugged into a power strip, surge protector or UPS as they can cause weird issues. Since it's brand new, take it back to where you got it for a warranty exchange. There isn't anything else you can do to try and fix that. Not seeing one cartridge is a possible cartridge issue, but when it suddenly gives errors for all 4, it's a printer issue.

I have had the same issue. I was getting 10.01.11 errors (cyan) cartridge. HP sent a replacement cartridge. Shortly afterwards I got the same error message. I replaced the cartridge 3 times for 1000 pages. HP kindly replaced the printer. All seemed well. Then recently after 100 pages on the second printer. I got the same error message (10.01.11 and 10.02.11). I could only clear this by replacing the cartridges with some old ones I had (all are HP originals). So I have now had this error from two printers and 5 cartridges.

So I think there may be a generic issue here in hardware or firmware.
