hello! All of the sudden there is a close tray error on my printer. I've restarted several times. I've unplugged and replugged everything in. I've held down the power for 15 seconds. there are only a few pieces of paper in the printer and i have made sure it is aligned correctly. I've had the printer for three years with no issue.

The error is: A paper Tray is open. Close the tray to continue.

Your printer thinks the tray is open.  The printer detects when a tray is open or not by sensors.

Thus:

1. Your printer tray door is open and you are not looking at the correct tray

2. Your paper tray sensor is broken, giving your printer the impression the door is open

Look around the tray for damage.  Many trays use a physical lever to determine when a door is open or when paper is loaded, your lever may be broken or defective.  Your printer is out of warranty and parts may not be available.  Be prepared to swap the printer if you cannot identify or repair the damage.
