Hi
We have a Color Laserjet Pro MFP M177fw, it has been working fine but then 2 weeks ago it got stuck in the initializing mode. At the time I was able to fix this by uninstalling & re-installing the software.
It has happened again today but this time the same fix doesn't work. I have tried the following;
Hard reset
Uninstalling & reinstalling the software & drivers
manually removed all the cartridges, checked for excess packaging and replaced
The printer is plugged directly into the socket.
Any help would be appreciated.
Many Thanks

Hi! @Nikki_Vertex, Thanks for stopping by HP forums!
I understand your printer is stuck at initializing mode.
Don't worry I'd like to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Please try the steps recommended below.
Sometimes an error message persists even though there is no packing material or jammed paper inside the printer. Resetting the printer might resolve the error.
Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.
Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Wait at least 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
NOTE:
HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.
The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.
Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.
If the issue still persists try performing an NVRAM reset on your printer and check if it helps.
Since the steps to perform NVRAM reset is confidential I will send you the steps in private message. Please watch your inbox for more information.
I'll watch your reply!
Take Care! 🙂

Hi @ER2016,
Thank you for showing your interest in HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel. I came across your post and wanted to assist you. I see from the post that you are having an issue with the printer stuck on initializing screen on HP LaserJet Printer. Don't worry as I have a few steps to help you get through this concern,
Let's start off by performing a Hard reset on the printer and make sure that the printer is connected directly to the wall outlet and not to the surge protector.
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
Remove USB cable, if present.
Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.
Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord and then plug back the power cord to the printer.
Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.
If your printer connected wirelessly, make sure to temporary connect the device with USB and then follow the link to check for the latest firmware update if available for your printer, using this website.
If nothing works, I would suggest you could try to perform an advance reset on the printer.
