hp 1102 pro
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a printer hp LaserJet 1102 pro. I would like to connect it to a new computer via USB 3.0 port. There are USB 3.0 ports only at the computer. The computer sees the printer, but printing is not possible. I have tried to install default drivers for this printer, I used the HP Print and Scan Doctor utility. Without results. Please, advise how I can connect the printer to the computer.

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

Thank you very much for your answer.
I followed your instructions. But when I started HP Easy Start the installation process stopped. It seems the program did not catch the USB connection between PC and printer. While physically they are connected by proved USB cable through proved USB port. Also I tested my printer at the system with OS Windows 10 equiped with USB 2.0 port. It works proper.

Thanks for the reply,

Are you using a MAC or Windows?

If you are using Windows do not use easy start for the installation.

Uninstall the drivers, click on this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-laserjet-pro-p1102-printer-series/4110... to download and install the drivers.

@Maksim_ICP

Thanks for the reply,

HP LaserJet Pro M104a supports: 1 Hi-Speed USB 2.0, it may not work with USB 3.0 port.

Thank you. I do not publicate our dialog in any way.

Unfortunately my attempts to connect printer to computer failed. Strange is it but:

1) Before installation I'd checked that there are no hp prinetrs in "Printer and devices" section.

2) When I started driver installation I saw unpucking of the file obtained from HP site. And nothing else. It seems that the program do not work.

3) I used HP Easy Start for farther installation but it stopped at position USB connection. Some HP printer appeares in the printer's list in "Printer and devices" section but it does not work. The last does not connected with processing of HP Easy Start.

Thank you for your reply.

As @Raj1788 is out of the office today, I'm replying to you.

I have reviewed your posts comprehensively.

The HP printers which have USB 2.0 ports should work on your new commuter which has USB 3.0 ports.

I suggest you to follow the below steps.

  • Make sure your printer is turned on and connected to the computer.

  • Download HP Print and Scan Doctor, and then follow the on-screen prompts to install and open the tool.

  • On the Welcome screen, click Start to view a list of available printers.

  • Select your printer in the list, and then click Next.

If your printer is not listed or a connection problem is detected, click My product is not listed or select your connection type, follow the on-screen instructions, and then click Retry.

Example of a list of available printers

  • Click either Fix Printing or Fix Scanning.

If you are prompted to install the printer software, follow the on-screen instructions. The software can resolve many printer issues.

Example of a list of available printers

  • Review the list of test results, and then resolve any issues found.

    • If you see a checkmark, the printer passed the test.

    • If you see a wrench, HP Print and Scan Doctor found an issue and repaired it.

    • If you see an exclamation point, the test failed and required user action, but the step was skipped.

    • If you see an X, follow the on-screen instructions to resolve the issue.

Example of the results screen with a problem detected

Once the HP Print and Scan Doctor runs successfully, you may try to print. If the issue persists then I recommend you to uninstall the printer drivers once more.

The steps suggested by @Raj1788 in the first reply to you contains steps that thel in uninstalling the printer drivers from the root level.

Once the printer drivers are uninstalled, you may disconnect the printer from the computer.

NOTE: Do not plug the printer's USB cable to the computer initially. You may first begin the installation and during the course of the installation it will prompt to connect the printer. And that is when the printer needs to be connected via USB to the computer and continue with the installation.

You may download and install the printer drivers via this link: www.hp.com/drivers

Hope this helps.  In case it does not work then you may try to install the inbuilt printer drivers from the Windows operating system. The steps mentioned in "Step 3: Install the print driver with the Add a Printer wizard" from this HP document should help.

Finally, if nothing helps then please try creating a new user account in Windows 10. Then install the drivers in the new user account. The steps mentioned in "Creating a new account" from this HP document will help to create a new user account.

Hope this information helps. Let me know the outcome.

All the best!

Hello! Thank you for Your response. I followed your instructions, but it was inconclusive. The HP Print and Scan Doctor may not recognize my printer. According to the prompts, I turned the printer on and off, unplugged the power cable, changed the USB cable and USB port. Everything was in vain. At the same time, Windows detects the presence of a device (see screenshot).  With best wishes, Maksim_ICP
