Hi I am trying to set-up my HP Laserjet P1606dn printer for Samsung Chromebook Plus. I managed to print the other day, but now it says the printer is offline, even though it is on and I can print to it from my laptop (Linux).
I tried to follow the instructions to use ePrint, but have not been able to find an email address for the printer.
Any ideas?
Thanks for any help or suggestions
Anna

Hello, @AnnaKuz - Hope you are well 🙂
Allow me to welcome to HP Support Forums! It is a great platform to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!
I see that you are having issues while printing to your LaserJet from your Chromebook. I would like to help 🙂
We can easily print from the Chromebook by adding your printer as a Cloud-ready printer. Follow the steps below:
- Turn on your printer.
- On your PC, open the Chrome browser.
- At the top right, click More
Settings.
- At the bottom, click Advanced.
- Under "Printing," click Google Cloud Print.
- Click Manage Cloud Print devices.
- If prompted, sign in with your Google Account.
- Select the printers you want to connect, and then click Add printer(s).
The printer is now associated with your Google Account and connected to Google Cloud Print. You can print to this printer from any device where you're signed in to your Google Account.
Now, you can easily print from your Chromebook using the Google cloud print. Check http://hp.care/2cYVMZ9 for detailed instructions.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
Good luck 🙂

Hi, thanhks for your suggestions. After clicking Add Printers, the page to register printer popped up, the printer was selected and I clicked Add printer(s). Got the message, Thanks, you're ready to go!, but after clicking Manage printers the HP does not show in the list of Cloud printers on the PC, only as a local printer. Nor does it show when selecting printing in Chrome on the Chromebook.

Hello, @AnnaKuz
Let's assign a static IP to the printer and check.
- Obtain the IP address of the printer – You can touch the “wireless” icon on the printer control panel to get the IP address.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says, “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says, “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
- Restart the printer and then router once done.
If the issue persists, then please check the steps listed here: http://hp.care/2cYVMZ9
Let me know if that helps!
Cheers 🙂

Hello, @AnnaKuz
Is the printer connected to the wireless network? Let me know.
Also, try using the HP print plugin from here: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hp-print-for-chrome/cjanmonomjogheabiocdamfpknlpdehm?hl=en
Thanks, I'll watch for your reply!

According to google support there is a bug in Chrome that crashes (black screen) Chrome when you try to "Manage" a local printer. Resetting or Powerwashing does not help either. Bug is reported and hopefully the next update will have resolved the bug.
