So... If you had not figured out from the subejct text. I am trying to connect the Laser Jet M402N to a wireless network from an old windows XP home SP3 desktop computer. I was able to download the software to get the printer to work from a USB printer cable, but it is all stretched and risking some damage tot he motherboard. Though iI doubt it will cause issues.

Hi
Sorry but I don't know what you have tried so far.
The drivers on the HP page are for 32 bit XP only (although they are recent Jan 31, 2018 ) so that may be your problem.

OR is this relevant?
1 . Connect the network cable to the printer and to the network. Wait a few minutes for the printer to acquire a network address.
