I have read a couple of reviews that the PDF document scanning is only 300DPI even though it's advertised as 1,200DPI. Is this trus and if so will there be any patch to bring it to the advertised spec?
I perfer a MFP but the device is seldomly used. I have had ink jet printers and because of the lack of use they tend to smudge or skew text. Even running alignment correction and nozzle cleaning does not solve the problem. Will long periods of inactivity have any negative effects on this printer? I thought I would try a laser printer to see if the lack of use issue would not be a problem.
If the printer is in sleep mode will it automatically wake up for any compatable device?
Thanks

When you have the HP Scan app open and you select "Scan as PDF"- look on the right pane of the scan app and select "Flatbed" for your scan source. Then go to the "image options" and you should see 1200dpi as a selectable resolution option.
-The default scan source is ADF....and this does not support 1200 dpi. Only from when the flatbed is selected in the HP Scan app.

Hi there,
it is true that on the document feeder copy, 300dpi at maximum, and on flatbed glass copy, 600dpi. for details:
- Print Resolution Black (best): 600 x 600 dpi, Up to 38,400 x 600 enhanced dpi; Color (best): 600 x 600 dpi, Up to
38,400 x 600 enhanced dpi - Copy Resolution Black (text and graphics): 600 x 600 dpi; 600 x 600 dpi; Color (text and graphics): 600 x 600 dpi
- Scan Resolution Hardware: Up to 1200 x 1200 dpi; Optical: Up to 1200 x 1200 dpi
for its skew, if you use auto document feeder, the skew specificaition is 0.02mm per mm, in a case of A4 size, which is 297mm, the maximum skew would be 297*0.02=5.94 .
for your last question of whether it will be wake up when its in sleep mode, yes, it will wake up on response to printer job/control panel touch/...
Hope it helps.

Will there be any future patches or updates to the document feeder copy to increase the available resolution or is it fixed in hardware? Will HP be offering a newer version of this printer that will offer better document feeder resolution?
Thanks
