@ leestanleyuk

This is a great location to get assistance! I read your post and see that you are trying to login to the website and it is asking for a password. I would like to help you resolve this issue.

However, I will need a few details to provide an accurate solution,

  • Are you trying to login into EWS page?
  • How is the printer connected to the computer, USB or Wireless?
  • Which operating system is installed on the computer?

Meanwhile:

If you didn't set up a password, these are some default combinations that may access the setting page.

Username        Admin

Password         just leave this blank

If this doesn't work try Admin for the Password.

Reply with the result of the above-mentioned steps, for further assistance.

Cheers.

Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me unfortunately I did try both options and it still won't allow me to login.

The printer is on a network and I was connecting via IP address to the EWS page,

The operating system I am using is Windows 7.

Many Thanks

Hi @leestanleyuk,

Welcome to HP Forums, this is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that you are unable to login to the EWS page.

It looks like you were interacting with @sandytechy20, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.

Let's go through a few steps to uninstall and reinstall the drivers:

Step 1: Uninstall the Drivers:

Please follow the steps provided to uninstall the printer software in the link: Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows)

Also, please follow the steps provided below to completely remove the printer software from printer properties.

Steps to remove printer driver files from Print Server Properties:

  1. Open the Print Server Properties dialog window by doing one of the following:
    • Click the Start menu and in the search field type 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click it in the search list.
    • Press WINDOWS-R on the keyboard to bring up the Run window, type in 'printui /s /t2' (without the quotes), and then press Enter or click OK.
    • From the Start menu or the Start screen:
    • Open Devices and Printers.
    • Select any printer and then click "Print server properties" at the top of the window.
    • Click on the Drivers tab.
  2. Select the printer driver you wish to uninstall.
  3. Click the Remove button.
  4. Select "Remove driver and driver package" and click OK.

Step 2: Download and install the Drivers from the link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers

Let me know how this works.

You have a good day ahead.

Hi Thanks for the message,

Unfortuently I followed those steps and it still doesn't work.

the issue is all of the HP printers are connected via IP address, when trying to change the IP address from the webpage it is now asking for a login.

this has only happened since I upgraded the firmware?

There is no default password and most likely the printer has always had a password given to it by the network administration previously.  Download the service manual and try doing a nvram reset but read the caution statement. If that does not work, then the password is on you server and keyed into the MAC address of the network interface on the printer and can not be changed without knowing the original password. If you have a crossover cable and know the ip address of the printer you could connect directly to a computer with the crossover cable and you should be able to access the web page but you will not be able to change the password since each time the printer is connected to the network the password will revert to the one on the server.
