HP LaserJet E60055
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We recently purchased and deployed HP LaserJet E60055 printers.

I have two that have a 10 second delay before printing the first page and a few second delay before printing each additional page. One of the printers I went through the Reset Printer steps and it fixed the issue, but it came back even worse.

I had a co-worker try the reset steps again and it did not fix the issue.

Before I return and try the printer reset again (myself), does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this delay?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Step 1: Reset the printer

Resetting the printer can resolve some types of slow printing issues.

  1. Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

  4. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

  5. Wait at least 60 seconds.

  6. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

       NOTE:

HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

  7. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

  8. Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

  9. Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Try to print. If the issue persists, continue to the next step.

I would look at the drivers you are using as a possible suspect as well. Make sure that the firmware installed on the printer is the latest and also make sure that the low noise option is turned off.

Make sure you're not using PS (PostScript) drivers as they are notoriously slow. Use PCL drivers instead. Don't use Universal drivers either, download and install drivers designed for the printer model.

It it's only a problem on some computers but not others, besides the driver issue, it could be the computers are slow or running too many background applications that can slow down the print processing to the printer and/or the data being sent to the printer is too large/complex for the computer to process and send quickly.

Yesterday I discovered that there was a newer firmware than the one I was using from 2 months ago.

So I upgraded the firmware and print out's came out quick and there was no delay, so we were happy. I am now told this morning that the delay has returned. Arghh.

I am not using PS drivers.

Maybe I will try the HP Universal driver later today.

Ok,

So updating the firmware did not make a difference in printing delay. I switched everyone to using the HP Universal PCL 6 driver and the print job starts printing in 2 seconds.

I would prefer to use the E60055 printer driver b/c it comes out darker, but not if there's such a major delay.

Thanks
