With an inoperative Control Panel, is it possible to find out the number of pages printed over the last year?  I am thinking of replacing the printer with a similar one but on a per page contract.

Hi,

you can use the EWS of the printer: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c02786263 (Video)

Under the information tab you'll find the usage page.

Please keep in mind that the meter readings are the total meter readings of the system and cannot be evaluated for a specific period of time.

Regards
