Hi @CBM136

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand the concern. If your HP LaserJet M209dw is connected to Wi-Fi but iPhone/iPad devices cannot discover it, the issue is often related to network communication, AirPrint visibility, or wireless settings rather than the printer's connection itself.

Please try the following:

Confirm the printer and all iOS devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi band (2.4 GHz or 5 GHz). Some routers place devices on separate bands or guest networks, preventing discovery.

Print a Network Configuration Report from the printer and verify that it has a valid IP address assigned by the router.

Restart the printer, router, and iOS devices. Once everything reconnects, check whether the printer appears under Print > Select Printer on the iPhone or iPad.

In the printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) by entering the printer IP address in a web browser on a computer, verify that:

  • Wireless connection status is connected.
  • AirPrint services are enabled.
  • No network isolation or filtering settings are active.

If your router offers Guest Wi‑Fi, AP Isolation, Client Isolation, or similar security features, ensure the printer and iOS devices are connected to the main network and can communicate with each other.

Open the HP App on an iOS device and check whether it can detect the printer. If the HP App cannot find the printer either, this points to a network communication issue.

To help us narrow this down, please share:

  • Whether the printer is connected via Wi‑Fi or Ethernet
  • The printer's IP address from the Network Configuration Report
  • Whether the printer is visible and able to print from a Windows or Mac computer on the same network
  • Your router model (if known)

With these details, we can provide more targeted guidance for the LaserJet M209dw.

Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you for your prior solution which worked.  However, today turned on the printer to print a document and the printer once again could not be found.  I tried finding it through the IP address i had used yesterday.  That did not work.  How do I resolve this probelm?

Hi @CBM136

Thank you for the update. I understand the printer was working previously, but after powering it back on, it can no longer be found and the previous IP address is not responding. This can occur when the router assigns a different IP address to the printer after it reconnects to the network.

To assign a manual (static) IP address to your HP LaserJet M209dw, please follow these steps:

  1. Print a Network Configuration Report from the printer and note the current IP address.
  2. On a computer connected to the same network, open a web browser and enter the printer's current IP address in the address bar.
  3. The printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) should open.
  4. Navigate to:
    • Networking
    • IPv4 Configuration (or TCP/IP Settings)
  5. Select Manual IP or Static IP.
  6. Enter:
    • IP Address: Choose an unused address within your network range (for example, if your router uses 192.168.1.x, you might use 192.168.1.250).
    • Subnet Mask: Typically 255.255.255.0
    • Default Gateway: Your router's IP address (commonly 192.168.1.1)
  7. Save the settings and allow the printer to reconnect.
  8. Restart the printer and verify that the new IP address remains the same after a power cycle.

If you are unable to access the EWS because the IP address cannot be reached, please let us know:

  • The IP address shown on the Network Configuration Report
  • Whether the printer displays as connected to Wi‑Fi on the report
  • Your router model

We can then provide more specific guidance based on your network setup.
