Hi folks,
as several others I updated the firmware (20180208) on my Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw and the installer stated it was successfull.
However, after the printer rebooted the display stuck on the HP/energy star logo and all button are lit up. Whatever you press nothing happens.
Funny enough the printer works and using the tools and can see that the update went through. It just "killed" the display.
Could some of you HP support folks send me the private message so I can get the display work properly again, please?
Many thanks,
EmZee68

Yes, I did several times. The FW-update tool tells me that there is a problem (generic message before the available printers are listed).
The SMART tool cannot show the printer status and the HP Printer & Scan doctor is talking to the printer but cannot retrieve the current FW version.
ISsthere any REAL HARD RESET I can do? I am also happy to apply an older firmware if available, as long as I can make the display work again.

How are you connecting to the printer? Wired or wireless? If wireless, that may be an issue. Connect with USB or ethernet connection to send firmware update. Wireless updates can be problematic.
You could try a factory reset.

Well, the printer itself is connected via LAN cable, but my laptop etc. usually use WiFi.
However, I did the firmware update using the USB cable and the application went through successfully and stated a successfull change also.
It's probably worth to mention that I earn my money with IT, even though I am not doing hard-and software support anymore for the past 20 years,
So in essence I used every tool available from HP to check and manage the device and used every hint under the sun I could find so far on bring the normal working mode of the device back, but without luck so far.
Thus I am really keen to get hold of these "misterious" personal notes from the HP engineers, which seemed have haelped the others in these forum.
Anyway, many thanks for your supprt!!
