HP laserjet pro m404n
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

We are replacing HP Laserjet M402n with HP Laserjet pro M404n. Before going forward, we wanted to know the driver compatibility and END of LIFE of M4040n printer.

My questions are:

1. Is it possible to use M402n drivers for M404n directly?

2. What would be the effect on drivers while going to windows 10 from windows 7?

3. What is the expected END of LIFE for M404n printer?

Thank you...

You best bet in terms of driver is to use the HP Universal Print driver. They change and update but provide compatibility for a long period of time and offer the benefit of only needing one driver for most HP Laserjet and Pagewide machines regardless of Windows 7 or 10 being used. The M404 is relatively new and EOSL has not even been announced at this point so you likely have at least 4 years before it is even announced. Yes newer printers will likely be released but that will have nearly zero bearing on support for the 404.
