this is an old printer, may be win 10 64 bit not supported, try to update windows wile printer connected via usb hope it will work.

All as I know HP LaserJet 1000 only can work with under Win7 x32 (not for x64) so it can't work on Win10 for sure.

But it did work on Win10 x64 under protection mode and I can't tell you how to do it.
