LaserJet Pro m402
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

HP_LJ_Pro_M402-M403_n-m-dn-dne_PCL6_Print_Driver_no_Installer_19134 (or 19133) will not extract.  It does start the extract process but returns the message,

KentCounty_0-1591358335967.png

This is the latest version available as of 6/4/2020.  There is no extracted folder created.

I cannot extract in Safe Mode as the Windows Installer service will not start in Safe Mode.

There is a full installation driver but it will not let me choose the "Have a Disk" option.

Need these updated filest (driver) so I may use the .inf file to install on my Windows 2012 r2 print server.

If you are installing on a server you are better off downloading the HP Universal print driver, which has better support for server OS. Current version is 6.9.

Thank you for your prompt response and suggestion.

I had thought about the universal but was afraid it would not offer all the functions of the specific driver.

Installing the universal may update the current version of the driver on the server meaning about fifty printers will get updated drivers at the next GPO enforcement without testing, instead of three,   A bit worried.

Oh, Duh! I am building a new 2019 server and want to use as many universals as possible.  The new version you recommend will be used anyway updating drivers on all workstations in the Security Groups.  An incompatibility here is what frightens me.

I've read the PS version is more stable, does this make any sense?

I guess that is what test systems are for.
