Hello, I updated the printer drivers a bit ago for my device, and now the duplex printing isn't automatic. It is only manual. How do I get it back? Thanks for your help!

Welcome to HP forums.

I recommend you delete the driver and root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1)In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2) Select your HP Printer

3) Select Uninstall

4) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

6) Open up the run command with the “Windows key + R” key combo.

7) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)

😎 Click on the “Drivers” tab

9) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10) Select Ok

11) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12) Close Devices and Printers

I finally had time this afternoon to complete this process, which resulted in no change. The duplex printing is still manual. It's pretty annoying.

Please let me know the printer's product number and the operating system you use with the device you are trying to print. 🙂

  1. Search the Windows Store for HP Smart to locate and install the app.

  2. On the app home screen, click Print, and then click Print Document to find the document you want to print.

    NOTE:

HP Smart currently prints PDF files only. If you want to print a Word or WordPad document, save it as a PDF file, and then repeat the previous step.

  3. Select your printer, click More settings, and then select an option from the Duplex printing menu.

  4. Click OK, and then click Print.

Keep me posted. 🙂

No; this is absurd. I am not jumping through all these hoops. The printer worked fine before I updated HP's drivers on 2/14,  and it should work just as fine now. If I can't rely on an update from HP, I will have to search elsewhere for a replacement.
