Thank you for posting on HP Support Community.
Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:
We can perform a factory defaults on the printer to resolve the issue
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon in the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hi I have had a similar problem. I set the admin password and stored it in my password manager.
When I try access the service menu it asks for a user name and password.
It says: "is requesting your username and password. The site says: “HP device (password only, no username required)"
I enter the password and it doesn't work. I have tried leaving username blank, I have tried ADMIN, Admin, Administrator, administrator and ADMINISTRATOR with the password and also all of those with a blank password.
I think I need to just reset the printer and start again. Please could you send me the instructions.

Yeah @Chrontab, this problem is really frustrating! I also have tried all the possible combinations and followed the istructions I found on the forum but none of them worked....
Hope someone will help us! And please HP, a little reset button would be the simplest panacea to all these problems!

The worst part is I know I didn't stuff up here. I used my password manager to set the password, copy paste only, no typing.
It must be a bug, like it can't accept more than a few characters for a password or something.
Luckily I can still print with the USB cable but yeah, it's a drag, really let's down what is a nice, reliable little laser printer.
