Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have yet to successfully print a #10 envelope. No matter how I configure the printer setup it keeps printing portrait mode and off the envelope. I don't know it this is a MS Word issue or HP driver issue but I just need to print my envelopes again.

There are several ways to impact the output on your printer:

1. Application settings

2. OS default settings

3. Document settings

4. Driver settings

5. Print server settings

6. Physical printer settings

The end result is a combination of who out ranks who when a print job is sent to the printer for physical printing.  You will need to do some trial and error to figure out what is missing in your scenario.

Here is what I suggest:

1. Print of a  Configuration Page on the printers control panel

2. Verify what the current paper type and paper size settings are for each paper tray

Note that Tray 1 is normally the Any Type/Any Size paper tray for odd jobs like envelopes if there is not one already configured

3. Open up a brand new Word document

4. Enter your Word Envelope wizard (for me its the Mailings Tab > Envelopes)

5. Enter your address information

6. Enter the Options area of the wizard

7. Under the Envelope Options tab, Verify that the Envelope is set to Size 10 and matches one of the physical tray settings on the printer

8. Under the Printing Options tab, click the appropriate Feed Method and orrient the envelope in the tray accordingly

9. Verify that the Feed From drop down box is set to Automatically select.  This will force the printer to pull paper from the tray that matches the specs from the print job and not some other default setting.

10. Click OK and print to run a test print

Repeat this process a few times making changes one at a time to observe the impact to your print output.  Eventually you will find the right combination of printer settings to match your Word Envelope Wizard settings.

The printer is an innocent bystander in this situation. It is going to print the envelope to the best of its abilities according to the information that was sent to it.  You need to make sure you are sending the right instructions to the printer in the first place which is mostly on MS Words side of the equation.
