Solved!

Erroneous error message

LaserJet Pro MFP M148dw
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

LaserJet M148dw display still shows "Black Cartridge is very low" after I installed a new HP 94A toner cartridge.  Previously bad print quality was restored to normal by the new cartridge, but the "very low" message is still displayed.  Any way to reset it after the new cartridge was installed?

Contact your cartridge supplier for information on the return and warranty policy that they offer.  Try another cartridge.  You shouldn't have to reset the printer after swapping a cartridge, its more likely the new one is a dud, or there is a problem with the chip reader in the printer.

Chip reader problems can be fixed by cleaning the chip reading contacts.  If the problem happens on a 2nd new cartridge then you would likely have to service the printer to repair the problem.  Contact HP directly for any remaining warranty options first.  Then contact a local PC repair shop for whatever HP will not cover after that.
